The Sony PlayStation 4 has been officially announced! We will be covering all the new and exciting information from the PlayStation Meeting 2013 about the brand new console!
Two of Sony’s most beloved franchises are returning to the PlayStation 4.
Killzone: Shadow Fall
Guerrilla Games made an appearance at the meeting showing off their new game on Sony’s new console, the PS4. The Killzone series has spanned over numerous games releasing on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and this year- the PlayStation Vita. The series has been noted for its intense action and top notch graphics that pushes the console’s capabilities, ever since the demo from E3 2005.
Gameplay of Killzone: Shadow Fall was also shown, as well as a trailer, and shows how beautiful and pretty the game looks. Not only on a technical standpoint but the futuristic design was gorgeous. The game follows the typical First Person Shooter affair with large explosions, lots of gunfire and hell breaking loose. There was no indication on when Shadow Fall is set on the Killzone timeline. Shadow Fall is set thirty years after the original Killzone triology where the Helghans and Vektans live side by side in a futuristic city divided by a wall. the story follows a similar tone and tension to that of Berlin during the Cold War.
No release date has been revealed for Killzone Shadow Fall.
inFamous: Second Son
The next entry into the popular inFamous series is inFamous: Second Son. Developed Sucker Punch, the inFamous series has garnered positive attention for its previous two games in the series, both released on the PS3. You play as Deslin Rowe, 20 year old with the power to use explosive smoke, who is labeled as a bio-terrorist in the city of Seattle. He acquires these powers after coming in contact with someone he rescues from a flaming bus crash. The introductory scenes feature a propaganda theme with the entire city under security cameras.
The city of Seattle is under high surveillance but the city is also full of people with unique powers, who are hunted down. The game features a new protagonist rather than Cole Macgrath, the hero/villain from the previous games. inFamous is an open world series featuring the protagonist with super powers; electricity. The game also has a moral system which changes your powers and the outcome of the game. The footage from inFamous: Second Son seems to feature a dark and gritty atmosphere with Deslin using his powers to defend himself and take down others.
